The Trauma Center at Holmes Regional Medical Center, preventing injuries and accidents is just as important as treating them. And as a trauma center, we're committed to serving our community through outreach and education.
Through important partnerships with business, industry, government, and the community at large, we offer a variety of safety and educational programs. Numerous nationally acclaimed health education programs are offered through Health First. These programs are specifically designed by various authorizing agencies, such as the American Red Cross and American Heart Association, for the community we serve.
Our team of certified instructors trains individuals in both basic and advanced life-saving skills, as well as teach wellness and prevention programs.
According to a report published by the Florida Department of Health
Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Brevard County ranks among
the top 10 counties in the number of reported domestic violence-related
deaths and injuries.
To address this serious issue, The Trauma Center is currently
working closely with various local and state agencies, government
officials and other community leaders to develop a cooperative
domestic violence prevention and education initiative. Holmes Regional Medical Center's Department
of Case Management is a member of the Governor's Task Force on Domestic
Violence.
The Trauma Center supports Case Management's commitment to educating
the community as well as fellow healthcare professionals on how
to identify and screen for domestic violence victims, and what measures
should be taken to ensure the victim and his or her family receive
referral to the proper resources.
